The holidays are coming, and you know what that means: cookie baking, grandkids, parties, shopping and more.
Even if you have discovered the benefits of online shopping, there’s a good chance your life will be busier than usual. For someone with osteoarthritis of the hip, rheumatoid arthritis of the hip or hip injury, this can mean more pain and less enjoyment of the holidays.
It’s too late to make things better this year, but here are all the reasons why you should consider getting your hip replacement before the holidays next year!
1. Cookie baking is a stand-up activity. Yes, baking all of those cookies for the grandkids means hours on your feet. And if the little people are actually involved, add 1.5 hours to the process! Imagine being able to do all of this without pain. That’s reason in itself to get your hip replacement done this year.
2. Presents are for children. Seriously, in adulthood, don’t we just buy ourselves everything we want or need anyway? Rather than spending money on meaningless items, why don’t you spend it on something that will actually improve your quality of life-- like a hip replacement!
3. Navigating stores with a scooter is no fun. If your hip pain is severe enough that you need a scooter in order to shop, you will find that scooters + the holidays = maximum frustration! With so many people, products and chaos, navigating stores and malls with a scooter is probably more painful than just walking them for hours with your arthritic hip. Wouldn’t it be great if next year you could simply stroll down the aisles as you shopped? Guess what, you can!
4. You deserve it. What better gift to give to yourself or your spouse than the freedom of a hip replacement? With anterior hip replacement surgery offering shorter recovery periods, and with today’s prosthetics lasting longer, this is a gift that keeps on giving, years after you’ve received it.
Happy holiday from all of us!
