Trauma Fellowship Program

Sonoran Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeons fellowship program, in conjunctions with HonorHealth hospitals, offers clinical and research material for the development of a career in academic orthopaedic traumatology. The program focuses on the multidisciplinary care of the polytraumatized patient and offers the successful applicant exposure to both adult and pediatric acute and reconstructive trauma training. The foundation of the fellowship focuses on:

  • Pelvic/acetabular
  • Complex periarticular
  • Malunion
  • Nonunion cases stressing the importance of soft-tissue reconstruction and total patient care

Trauma fellows play an integral role in the daily function of the Orthopaedic Trauma Service. They work in concert with the faculty and residents to develop the confidence to independently manage perioperative issues related to the orthopaedic trauma patient.

Requirements and Expectations

  • Attend weekly conferences and lectures: Attending, fellows, residents
  • Monthly journal clubs
  • Monthly M/M rounds
  • Research meetings
  • By end of year, complete at least one publishable research project to be presented at the OTA Annual Meeting

NOTE:  WE DO NOT SUPPORT FOREIGN MEDICAL GRADUATES WITHIN OUR FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM.

Application Requirements:

All applicants must be board eligible and must have completed an accredited Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program.

Fellow applicants are selected for interview as listed under our criteria for selection of fellows. Completed applications will be reviewed and applicants selected for interview will be notified by email or phone.

Criteria for Selection of Fellows  

Fellows are selected for interview on the basis of preparedness, ability, aptitude, academic credentials, and performance during residency training, communication skills and personal qualities such as motivation and integrity.
